Guitar Songs is the sophomore extended play by Billie Eilish. It was released on July 21, 2022 through Darkroom and Interscope Records for digital download and streaming. The EP contains two tracks in total.

Background[]

"The 30th" was the first track written for the EP, written in December 2021. "TV" was completed some months later, around mid 2022.[1]

Starting June 7, 2022, Eilish began performing the song "TV" in Manchester, UK on the world tour for her second album. Later, Eilish released Guitar Songs without prior warning on July 21, 2022. [2]

Trivia[]

  • Guitar Songs is Eilish's shortest EP, clocking in at 8 minutes and 17 seconds.
  • In the song "TV" , Eilish discusses her pro-choice leanings for the first time in a song, as well as the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard court trial which were both highly-publicised events around the release time of the EP.
  • "The 30th", though it was written several months prior to "TV", did not have its live concert debut until August 13, 2022 on the tour Happier Than Ever, The World Tour in Manila[3], while "TV" was performed for the first time on June 7, 2022.[4]
  • Guitar Songs is the first body of work in which Eilish has not released an official music video, though two lyric videos were posted online alongside the initial release.[5][6]
  • Eilish recorded live acoustic performance videos of both songs in the Cloud Forest, Singapore. Both were released on her official YouTube account on September 21, 2022.[7][8]
