"TV" is a song by Billie Eilish. It was released on July 21, 2022 along with "The 30th", as part of a two song EP release titled Guitar Songs.
Background[]
The song was performed by Eilish numerous times during her Happier Than Ever, The World Tour prior to its initial release. It was first performed at a concert in Manchester, UK on June 7, 2022, as part of the tour. The ending of the final released version of the song contains audio segments taken from the song's live debut in Manchester.
Theme[]
TV was written about losing friends and time in compromise to try and save a doomed relationship. Eilish, in the song, blames herself for their relationship troubles while also speaking about some of the issues present in society today and how they relate to the relationship.
It also mentions the overturning of Roe vs Wade, a landmark decision allowing abortion to All American women and was overturned in the summer of 2022, and additionally mentions Johnny Depp and the libel case against Amber Heard, talking about how unhappy she was about people caring more about both celebrities’ divorce case than women having their abortion rights taken away.
